Directions to the Woods: Follow the signs for Bodium Castle and when you get onto the B2244, instead of turning left to the Castle, carry on straight. The first gate to the woods is almost
exactly 2 miles after the cross roads.
The gate which may be hard to spot, is a rusty red coloured and here is where the
shared parking area is.
The second gate is about a quarter of a mile further on and should be easier to find
as there is a Woodlands.co.uk sign next to it.
Directions through the Woods:
Although it is possible to drive through the woods, its not recommended. Some of the tracks are really only suitable for 4x4s
From the Car park: follow the path over the bridge and up a short steep slope. At
the top of the slope there is a cross ways, go across and follow the track up
until you come to an entrance on the right. This is the North gate to our woods.
Follow the track that runs along the cleared area until you come to our camp.
From the Second Gate: follow the track until you come to a cross ways and take the left turning. Follow the track past the Dawn Wood sign and you will come to a fork to the right. This is the West gate to our woods. Go through this gate and follow this track up the hill until you come to the camp.
The woods are out lined below in red. The Green lines are the access tracks.
The wood itself is physically marked with mauve rings around the trees.
.
The club meets most Sundays, at around 11am
Warning: Although the B2244 is relatively quiet, the
traffic is extremely
fast. Take care when you pull over to enter the gate and as
you leave. If
the gate is locked, I recommend driving down to the second
entrance and
parking on the grass verge there.
